Presentation Title: An In-Memory Paradox: Increased IO
Speaker: Mr Michael Salt
Company: Fujitsu
Presentation abstract: This presentation discusses a real life case study where the client upgraded to 12c and switched on the In-Memory option to hold their entire database. Even though the database was predominantly read-only, the client was amazed to see no major performance benefits and an increase in I/O compared to their 11g system. A number of topics are covered including how to size the In-Memory column store and how to eliminate the I/O by placing Temp Files in memory - including how to tune this for maximum efficiency. The presentation assumes a basic DBA knowledge and some familiarity with the In-Memory Option.
