Presentation Title: Graph Databases. From First Principles to Fraud Analysis

Presentation abstract: More and more people are aware of the existence of Graph databases. High profile use cases for understanding offshore tax regimes, social media users, and of course the basis for the most popular internet search engines have lead to increased awareness from those seeking new insights into their data.

This presentation starts at first principles and aims to ease you into a graph mindset. I’ll show the origins of graph theory and how understanding graph properties allows us to quickly answer complex problems.

Next I’ll look at Oracle's property graph functionality on Big Data platforms and database 12.2. I’ll show how to create and load a new graph database. Then use graph analytics that detect fraudulent bank customers and find suspicious activity before it causes damage. I’ll show Python integration and other options.

I’ll finish by showing some options for visualizing graph data, giving us another way to find anomalous data patterns and reinforce graph concepts.
