Presentation abstract: One of the biggest architectural changes with Oracle 12.2 comes with sharding. Oracle sharding allows customers to split data across a pool of discrete Oracle databases. Each database is referred to as a shard and it is a shared nothing architecture.

This presentation will give attendees an opportunity to understand the basic concepts behind Oracle sharding. It will show the benefits and capabilities of sharding, the architecture and components required to use and how it compares with Oracle RAC.
